Nigerian Theologian in Residence for the Minneapolis Area Synod of the ELCA. Bitrus received Ph.D. in systematic theology from Luther Seminary St Paul, Minnesota. Prior to this, he was a lecturer at the Bronnum Lutheran Seminary Yola, Nigeria. He is the author of the book Community and Trinity in Africa and many other publications, including, ‘The Means of Prosperity: The Neo‐Pentecostal Interpretation of the Lord's Supper in Nigeria’ (Dialog 55, no. 4 (2016): 334–342), ‘The Persecution of the Church in Northern Nigeria: A Theological Response’ (Word &World 36, no. 4 (2016): 380–389), and ‘Disturbing Unjust Peace in Nigeria through the Church and Legal Reforms: The Contribution of Luther's Critical Public Theology’ (in On Secular Government: Lutheran Perspectives on Contemporary Legal Issues, ed.
